The assassination rumor began apparently with someone in Beijing who spotted a lot of cars at the North Korean embassy there on Friday and posted a note on Twitter speculating that something big must be going on in North Korea.

From that, it spread on Chinese Twitter feeds, message boards and eventually onto the rumor boards of stock market traders in the U.S. The rumor took different forms, some saying that Kim Jong Eun was in China and killed there and others that it happened in Pyongyang.
